*NEW IN 2027*
SCSHA is excited to offer an Asynchronous Virtual Convention as an on-demand component of the 2027 Convention. This initiative will help us keep Convention registration affordable, expand continuing education (CEU) opportunities, and reach members who may be unable to attend during the scheduled meeting dates. We encourage all presenters to consider partnering with Conference Management to pre-record their session between Monday, January 25, and Friday, February 5, 2027, in addition to presenting live in Myrtle Beach. By participating in both formats, you can extend the reach of your presentation and provide valuable learning opportunities to an even broader audience. During your submission, you will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format, and we hope you will consider selecting both Live-In Person and Pre-Recorded/On-Demand.
Review Submission Guidelines and Instructions Below
For participants and/or attendees to obtain Continuing Education (CE) Credits for attending the event, SCSHA has to register each presentation as a CE activity with ASHA. The formal submission process allows for SCSHA to collect all information required for our Program Committee to evaluate and register each accepted presentation as a CE activity with ASHA.
Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Speakers for accepted submissions will receive:
- For each accepted presentation, up to two (2) speakers are eligible to receive a $65 discount on the 2027 Convention general registration fee. For presentations with more than two speakers, the presenters must designate which two speakers will receive the discount.
- This discount is not available for poster session presenters.

Submitter and Authors
As the person initiating and entering the proposal into the submission system, you are automatically assigned the role of submitter.
As the submitter, you are responsible for collecting and providing the following information on behalf of all of the authors in your submission:
- Brief speaker biography w/complete contact information and credentials provided for all planned speakers
- Presentation Title
- Instructional Level
- Session Description
- Abstract/Summary
- Defined Learner Outcomes (3 statements)
Presentation Title Guidelines
- Proposal titles must be 15 words or fewer and written in title case.
- Do not use ALL CAPS, quotation marks, a period at the end, or other unnecessary punctuation.
Instructional Level
You will indicate whether the instructional level of your proposed presentation is:
- Introductory,
- Intermediate, or
- Advanced
Descriptions for Instructional Levels
Introductory Level: Instruction at the Introductory Level is generally intended for professionals with novice experience in the content area. Material presented is based on fundamental principles or concepts that are well known and regularly applied. Often this level of training is intended to be a prerequisite to successive, more difficult topics offered at the Intermediate Level. At times, experienced professionals might be advised to take this training for review or in preparation for more advanced-level training. Introductory level can also be used to describe course content related to new or emerging areas of practice. Content at this level may be relevant to Assistants.
Intermediate Level: Instruction at the Intermediate Level assumes some familiarity with the basic literature as well as some experience in professional practice within the area covered and targets more experienced professionals. The pace of the training and difficulty of concepts presented require more advanced knowledge and skills than the Introductory Level. Examples used at this level are often based on recent research and case studies that are complex in nature.
Advanced Level: Instruction at the Advanced Level assumes the participant already has established experience, knowledge, and skill within the area covered. The focus of courses at this level is on comprehension of findings in the current literature, and the synthesis and application of information presented to advance current clinical and research practices. The pace and level of difficulty of material presented is commensurate with the needs of a professional with comprehensive knowledge, ability, and experience in the content area.
Session Description Guidelines
- Provide a brief summary of your proposal in 120 words or fewer.
- If your proposal is accepted, this session description is what will be published in the program exactly as submitted and will not be edited.
- Please proofread carefully before submitting.
- Before completing your submission, review the Presenter Resources and Guidelines (downloadable)
Abstract/Summary Guidelines
- Please provide an expanded description of your proposal, not to exceed 1,000 words, that will give Program Committee reviewers a clear picture of the content and goals of the presentation. Your abstract/summary should discuss the planned presentation, background information, greater detail about research methodology or practices, and additional resources and materials.
- Presenters should plan to present information that is based in evidence. Sessions without strong evidence base provide participants with the degree of scientific evidence that is available and guide practice & highlight where further research is needed. These sessions also present expert clinical consensus as well as client perspectives and experiences.
- Presenters should reference “ASHA’s Recommendations for Using Evidence in Continuing Education Course Content” when developing their session proposal content.
- ASHA's Evidence Maps also serve as an excellent resource to ensure high-quality information is included in your proposal
Defined Learner Outcome Guidelines
- Learning outcomes are an important part of the review process and are mandatory for all proposals. If the proposal is accepted for presentation, they are published in the program. Learning outcomes describe what participants will be able to do after attending the session and must be stated as observable behaviors.
- Learning outcomes provide a foundation for developing the course's format, content, and assessment tool. They also inform the participant what they are expected to do as a result of the learning event and assist potential participants in determining if the course is appropriate for their level of knowledge and skills. Presenters should reference "Keys to writing and using learning outcomes" when developing their learner outcomes. Additionally, presenters should utilize the action verbs detailed in the Learner Outcome Guidelines when structuring and writing learner outcomes.
- All Learner Outcomes should follow this format: "Participants will be able to ....."
- Learning outcomes that indicate that an attendee will learn, understand, or know something are not measurable and are not eligible for ASHA CEUs and thus, cannot be accepted for presentation at the SCSHA Convention.
