  1. We cultivate the excellence of diverse, ethical professionals through advocacy, education, service, and leadership for members and the public.
  2. SCSHA works to ensure equitable access to speech, language, hearing, and swallowing services throughout South Carolina.
  3. We represent the professional interests of nearly 4000 licensed SpeechLanguage Pathologists, SLP Assistants, and Audiologists serving patients and students across the lifespan.
  4. Our providers work in healthcare, residential facilities, hospitals, schools, and early intervention.
  5. Our Executive Board is all-volunteer and gives freely of their time to advocate for the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Governance

SCSHA is governed by an Executive Board which consists of a President, seven (7) Vice Presidents, a President Elect, a President Elect-Elect and a Past President. The Immediate Past President and the Executive Director are ex officio members. A Council of committee/division chairs serve as an advisory body which identify, study and review matters related to the affairs and objectives of the Association. The Council is also responsible for implementing Association policies through their respective committees and divisions.

SCSHA's Social Media Policy 

SCSHA's social media sites are for SCSHA members and the public to share information, ask questions, and network. SCSHA's Executive Director and VP of Membership and Outreach maintain and monitor all SCSHA's social media sites and will delete any inappropriate posts. SCSHA's social media guidelines are as follows:
  • All comments, messages, and photos must be appropriate for a professional site.
  • Any comment, message, or photo that attacks, ridicules, denounces, impugns a person’s character, or imputes immoral or dishonorable attributes to others on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation will be deleted.
  • Any comment, message or photo not relevant to topics of interest to SCSHA and its members will be deleted.
  • Duplicate posts will be deleted.
  • Advertisements will be deleted.
  • Job postings listed on social media sites will be deleted. SCSHA's job postings are provided on the SCSHA website for a fee.
 SCSHA's social media policy is based on the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) policy posted in the ASHA Facebook Page.
